Partnership is our word for “membership.” We believe that it best reflects the relationship between an individual and their church community.

When you think about the word “membership” you think about joining a health club, a golf club or having a membership rewards card or a membership card at a video store. Membership in our culture implies that you pay your money and you get something in return, but you don’t give something back. It is not about two groups working together for the same common mission or goal. But partnership is, and it best reflects the give-and-take relationship between the individual partner and the other members of the church community. We feel this is the relationship that is best described in the Bible.

Partnership at Lakeside means that you have a say in the selection of leaders, who in turn will make wise, prayer-based decisions on the direction and operations of the church community.

Partnership is about commitment in a culture that struggles with commitment.
Partnership is important to God.
Partnership is about us knowing who we can count on.

Every team needs a roster – every school an enrolment – every country a census – and every church community needs a group of core people when it comes to commitment. To serve in some of the ministries at Lakeside will require you to be a partner so that there is an accountability relationship.

To become a partner at Lakeside:

•    You need to take the course, Discovering Lakeside.

•    You need to complete an application form.

•    You need to sign the “Partner’s Covenant.”

•    You will have a brief telephone interview with a member of the Leadership Team.

•    You will be affirmed during a regular weekend service with other partners.

If you think Partnership at Lakeside is something you would like to explore in greater depth or you have any questions please indicate on your Connection Card on Sunday morning or call the church office at 519-836-8141.
