Use these discussion questions with your small group, friends, family, or for individual reflection.

  1. How do you define meekness, and how does it differ from weakness or passivity?
  2. In our culture, we often equate meekness with weakness (and maybe a whole list of undesirable qualities). What feelings does this word stir up inside you? Would you like someone to describe you as meek?
  3. After hearing that meekness takes incredible strength and courage, in what ways can being meek, or showing strength under control, help us handle difficult situations better?
  4. Johanna said, “When we are at the end of ourselves and recognize our need for help, we are never more open to receive the grace and love of Jesus and others. It’s the best place to start when we’re looking for hope and healing.” Where are you looking for hope and healing right now?
  5. In what areas of your life have you had to rely on great faith, trusting that God will bring restoration even when circumstances seem challenging?
  6. As you walk away from this message, what are you taking with you? What new insights, feelings, or opportunities do you see to take your faith deeper?

These questions are connected to the message, Blessed in the Mess: Meekness Redefined from Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024.
