Restoration: Embodied Faith

Jonathan Puddle   -

Use these discussion questions with your small group, friends, family, or for individual reflection.

What is the relationship you have with your body? How has it changed over the years? (Positively or negatively). It’s OK if you don’t know how to answer this question. Hold onto it and come back to it later.

What emotions/feelings did you notice during this message?

  1. Where did you feel uncomfortable?
  2. Where did you feel inspired?
  3. Where did you feel confused?
  4. Where did you feel compassion?

What can you do this week to notice your body more?

What needs might your body be expressing today?

This was a different type of message and one you likely haven’t heard in many church services before. If you’re struggling to connect with this, that’s OK. Take some time to sit quietly, close your eyes, and ask your body some questions, such as:

  • What happened to you?
  • What do you like doing that you had to stop?
  • Arms, do you miss climbing trees?
  • Legs, do you still run and jump?
  • Mouth, do you enjoy eating cookies?
  • Toes, tell me how it feels to dig into the sand on the beach.
  • Body, what does music do to you?
  • Body, do you enjoy the caresses of someone who loves you?

What other questions might you ask your body?
