I grew up in British Columbia, in a family environment that involved many moves, which led to 14 different schools, in 12 different towns, with nearly 30 different addresses. All of these moves have led to a certain degree of insecurity, but throughout the roller coaster life I lived I was always comforted by a very personal relationship with God. I began to learn about God as a child and became aware of His presence when I was 7 years old…which means I have been in relationship with Him for 50+ years now. I was baptized in 1984 when I was 20 years old.
My wife, Debbie, and I were married in 1991. We have two married children, Grant (29) and Brooke (26).
We have experienced many challenging seasons in our lives, yet through it all God has always been with us, and it has been a joy to walk with Him and to follow Jesus.
It is exhilarating to see how God has been with us every step of the way, and He reminds me how He redeems every circumstance.
We moved to Guelph in 2011, and one of the biggest priorities was to find a church community that would be relevant to us, one that would be committed to teaching the spirit of the Word of God, and one that was committed to serving the community beyond its walls. We found Lakeside and we have loved being a part of this community, and have felt privileged to have learned so much and have been able to make some contributions in our time here. We love how the church continues to grow and to face challenges with generosity and grace. I look forward to making other contributions to our community, and if serving as an elder is a place where I can help, I hope that there are things from my life journey that will allow me to be a valuable part of the team.
