Our Vision | Our Mission | Our Core Values

Let there be real harmony among you so there won’t be any split in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. – 1 Corinthians 1:10 (LB)

Worship: Enjoying God and expressing that enjoyment to him.

Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only. – Matthew 4:10

“The true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks.” – John 4:23

Expressions of Worship

Ephesians 5:19

Hearing the Word
John 17:17

Romans 12:1-2

1 Corinthians 16:1-2

Psalm 95:6

Habakkuk 2:20

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Lakeside’s Worship Style

I was glad when they said to me, let us go into the house of the Lord. – Psalm 122:1

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. – Acts 2:42-47

Maturity: Growing towards being a fully devoted follower of Jesus.

Let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity. – Hebrews 6:1

[God has given]…some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we all…become mature…[like Christ]. – Ephesians 4:11-13

1. We are instructed through practical biblical teaching.

They joined with the other believers in regular attendance at the apostles’ teaching sessions …
– Acts 2:42 (LB)

2. We are connected, nurtured and discipled through small groups.

They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness … – Acts 2:46-47 (LB)

Outreach: Sharing God’s good news.

Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But who can ask them to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? – Romans 10:13-14 (LB)

It is not about numbers, or growing a large church, it is about reaching out in love to those who are far from God.

1. Because people matter to God.

The Lord…is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but wants everyone to come to repentance.
– 2 Peter 3:9; Luke 15:3-10; Matthew 9:12-13

2. Because God instructs us to go (reach out).

“You will be my witnesses…” – Acts 1:8

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19,20

3. Because God desires it to grow.

Under Christ’s control, the whole Body is nourished and grows as God wants it to grow.
– Colossians 2:19 (GN)

Community: Meeting each others needs — Love.

“This is how all men will know that you are my disciples, because you have such love for one another.” – John 13:35 (JBP); 1 John 3:16-17; Matthew 25:34-40; Romans 12:13

1. About the Bible

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error, in the original writings, and we believe them to be the divine and final authority of all Christian faith and life. There are no other writings similarly inspired by God.

Joshua 1:8; Psalm 19:7-11; Matthew 5:17-19; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21

2. About God

There is but one God, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three possess the same nature, attributes and glory, but are distinct in office and activity.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 48:16; Matthew 28:19; James 2:19

3. About Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ to be true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. The shedding of His blood and subsequent bodily resurrection provide the only means of satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who believe in Him. He rose from the dead to ascend into heaven, where at the right hand of God, His place is now as our High Priest and Advocate.

1 John 5:20; Luke 1:35; Matthew 1:20; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Romans 4:25; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 4:14

4. About Salvation

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin, so that every member of the human race is separated from God, and by nature, sinful and lost. Salvation is entirely of God’s grace, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. Only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:5

5. About the Holy Spirit

Each believer is indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of the redemption of his body. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:8; John 14:16-18; John 16:8-14; Romans 8:9

6. About the Church

The true Church is not an organization but a living organism comprised of all believers. We believe Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church. The local church is the expression, in any locality, of the true Church, having the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed during the present age but are not to be regarded as a means of grace.

Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-28; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Galatians 3:27-28; Ephesians 1:22-23

7. About the Return of Christ

We believe in the personal and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ, whose coming is the fulfillment of the blessed hope set before the believer. He will receive His believing people to Himself and later will come to earth visibly to establish His kingdom.

John 14:1-6; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 19:11 – 20:6

8. About the Resurrection

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

Revelation 20:12-13; Philippians 1:23; 2 Thessalonians 1: 8-9

A community helping people discover and fully follow Jesus Christ

We will accomplish this mission as we…
Gather together in large groups for worship in music, prayer, and relevant and practical teaching.
Connect in small groups.
Grow through personal spiritual habits.
Serve in at least one area of ministry using our spiritual gifts.
Invest our time and financial resources in making a difference in the lives of others.

At Lakeside, we believe everyone can:

Encounter God – It’s a relationship
Move Forward – It’s a journey towards Jesus
Experience Community – You don’t have to go it alone
Serve Others – We all have gifts to share
Change the World – The future of the church lies outside our walls
