Building Strong Foundations for Youth and Kids
At Lakeside, we believe that faith starts at home, and we’re here to support, equip, and walk alongside families every step of the way.
Family Ministries is all about building strong spiritual foundations for kids and youth, while empowering parents and caregivers to nurture faith in everyday life. Whether your child is just taking their first steps or navigating the teenage years, we want to create a community where they are known, loved, and encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
From engaging Sunday morning environments for all kids and youthto midweek gatherings and events for teens, our goal is to help every child and student discover the hope, joy, and purpose found in following Jesus.
What We're Talking About Right Now in Family Ministries
Grades 1-5

This March in Lakeside Kids, we’ll be exploring The Look of Love — a series helping kids understand how God grows His love in us through the fruit of the Spirit. Each week we’ll discover how love shows up in everyday life through joy, peace, patience, and kindness, and how the Holy Spirit shapes our hearts to look more like Jesus.
Through Bible stories, interactive teaching, and meaningful conversations, kids will learn that God’s love isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we live. As we walk through Galatians 5:22–23 together, our prayer is that children grow in character, compassion, and confidence in God’s presence in their lives.
Bible Verse:
“The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
- Galatians 5:22–23 (NLT)

Youth Grades 6-12

This month in Youth, students will journey through The Look of Love — a series focused on how growing closer to Jesus transforms the way we live, respond, and treat others every day. As youth intentionally draw near to Christ, they’ll explore how the Holy Spirit shapes their attitudes, choices, and relationships, discovering that love is more than a feeling — it’s a way of living that reflects Jesus in real and practical ways.
Together, we’ll unpack the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22–23, learning that love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and more are not traits we manufacture, but fruit that grows as we depend on God. Through the teachings of Jesus, reflections on gratitude and peace, and stories from the lives of Job, Ruth, and Naomi — students will wrestle honestly with what it looks like to choose love over hate, joy over discouragement, peace over anger, and patience over worry. Along the way, they’ll be reminded that spiritual growth takes time, intention, and trust, and that the Holy Spirit works in partnership with us through prayer, gratitude, and faithful choices in everyday moments.
Each week highlights a different expression of love, inviting youth to grow in character, compassion, and faith as they learn to put God and others first. Our hope is that by the end of the series, youth won’t just understand the fruit of the Spirit — they’ll begin to recognize how God is shaping their hearts and character, helping them respond with grace, choose peace in difficult moments, and reflect Christ in everyday relationships.
