- Do you speak another language? Have you been to another country where a language was spoken that you didn’t understand? Or you were immersed in a culture that was completely foreign to you. How were you able to communicate? How did you understand the world around you?
- If you grew up in church, was this the story you were given to explain diversity? Compare and contrast what you might have known already with new information you heard. If this was your first time hearing this story, what did you take away from this?
- When in your own life have you sought wealth or power? You may not have built a tower, but where have you fought for control of something?
- Robyn described the building of the Tower of Babel as “self-worship masquerading as religion.” Have you ever seen this or experienced it? Discuss.
- What power and influence do you have in your life right now? What can you (or what do you) do with that power to serve others?
- Why is it so hard for us to listen more than we speak? Practice the art of listening with your group right now and with others throughout the week. What do you notice? When is it hard to hold your tongue and why?
